Club EVENTs
& fixtures
The competitive swimming season runs over the academic year from September to July. As a club we attend a variety of events. Our team of coaches decide what events we will attend and which squads will be included, making sure that we provide a mix of opportunity for all squads across the year.

Open Meets: these events allow swimmers to enter individual races. The event organiser decides what events to put on. These are generally across all strokes, typically 50m or 100m, but may include longer events up to 1500m freestyle, and may include the individual medley. Some events, particularly County and Regional Championships, will have qualifying times that swimmers must obtain to be able to enter. Our Open Meets secretary will advise the details of how to enter all meets in advance via Swim Manager.
Both open meets and league events will have an 'age on' date. The typical formats are:​
League Events: these are events where we enter teams as a club. The events generally follow a similar format with individual swims, age group relays (freestyle and medley) and mixed age-group cannons, swum over 25m, 50m or 100m legs. They are run over multiple rounds with a league table tracking the relative performance of the teams from each club, and a final at the end for the top performing clubs in the league. Teams are selected by the coaches and our Fixtures Secretary will advise the details and team selection in advance.

Both open meets and league events will have an 'age on' date. The typical formats are:
Age on day of the event: you will swim in the age category for your age on the day​
​​Age on 31st Dec: you swim in the age category for your birth year
​Age on day of finals: this is typically used in league events to ensure swimmers stay in the same age group across all rounds and the final.
